Famous Cartoon Characters

Cartoons are something that everyone sees regardless of the age. How about taking a look at cartoon characters that children love or the famous cartoon characters of all time? Some fo the most lovable cartoon characters include tom and jerry, mickey mouse, donald duck, etc.,

I think almost all children love watching cartoons; sometimes, we adults ourselves sit and watch certain cartoon shows. Cartoons have become a part of a child’s life. Just ask a child what his/her pastime is and majority of them will say they watch cartoons either in the television or computers. There are certain evergreen cartoon characters, am I right? Many of us would have watched Tom and Jerry or Mickey Mouse when we were young and our children today watch these shows. Shall we find out the most famous cartoon characters that children love? This list is based on the popularity these cartoon characters have among children.

Tom and Jerry: It is hard to find someone who doesn’t like Tom and Jerry. Tom and Jerry is an American animated series created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbara for MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayor). Tom is the cat and Jerry is the rat. It is fun watching Tom chasing Jerry. Tom and Jerry celebrated their 70th anniversary on February 2010. Oh…completed 70 years and still looking young!

Mickey Mouse: This is a witty cartoon character that both children and adults love watching. Mickey is short for Mitchell. The famous Mickey Mouse character was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks on November 18, 1928. Have you watched the recent “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” show in Disney channel?

Donald Duck: Donald Duck is a playful cartoon character just like Mickey Mouse from Walt Disney. Donald is a white duck with legs, bill and feet in yellow-orange color. Red bow tie is another significant thing that one would notice in Donald Duck. The voice is given by Clarence Nash from 1934 till 1985 and from then on till now, it is Tony Anselmo who is voicing Donald Duck. Donald Duck celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1984.

Winnie the Pooh: Winnie the Pooh is another cartoon character that is famous among children. This was created by A. A. Milne. The first collection of stories on Winnie the Pooh was published in the year 1926. It was originally written as Winnie-the-Pooh, but the hyphens were dropped when it was adapted by “The Walt Disney Company.”

Tweety: I love tweety; it is such an adorable cartoon character. Tweety is also called as Tweety bird or the tweety pie. I thought tweety to be a female as it has a high pitched voice till I wrote this article; yes…tweety is a male. In majority of the cartoons, tweety will be accompanied by Granny, his owner. Tweety’s first appearance was on November 21, 1942. Tweety was originally created by Robert Clampett and later revised by Friz Freleng.

Cartoons are my favorite genre on television. On any given day, I will probably be happiest watching one of the many cartoon shows on television, especially those that star classic cartoon characters. There are so many cartoons that have become a part of our intrinsic memories, that it becomes difficult to list out the best of the lot. In this article, we try to give you a list of the classic cartoon characters of all time.

    Top Ten Classic Cartoon Characters

When it comes to famous cartoons, everyone has their own favorites. From classic female cartoon characters like Minnie Mouse to classic male comic characters like Superman, there is not a single person on the planet who does not have a favorite amongst the many cartoons. Given below is a subjective list of our favorite classic cartoon characters.

    Bugs Bunny

The star of hundreds of cartoons, this Warner Brothers' creation is probably one of the most famous classic cartoon characters of all time. Created in 1940, Bugs Bunny, as the name suggests is a rabbit who can be seen chomping carrots perennially. He is the main character of most Looney Tunes cartoons, thanks to his wits and fast thinking abilities.

    Mickey Mouse

You cannot list out classic Disney cartoon characters without naming the mascot of the group, Mickey Mouse. He is one of the first cartoon characters that most people remember from their childhood, and along with other members of his extended friend circle remains one of the most famous cartoon characters of all time.

    Garfield

Lazy and sarcastic - there is nothing that defines this cat better. He captured the imagination of the world when the strip was first introduced in the 1978 and has since then continued to entertain people on a daily basis. Other than Garfield, this strip also stars Jon, his owner, and Odie, a dog who is a pet in the same house. You cannot make a list of classic cartoon characters without Garfield.

    Homer Simpson

The patriarch of the Simpson family and probably the reason behind the enduring popularity of The Simpsons. Lazy, crass, fat, and irreverent, Homer Simpson is everything that you would not want to be. Combine that with his constant fights with his son and you probably have the reason for the series' popularity.

    Batman

The Caped Crusader, the protector of Gotham city, Batman first burst on the scene in the year 1939. The creators of the comic book superhero, Bob Kane and Bill Finger, gave him the perfect reason to become a superhero - to avenge the death of his parents. And along with that they gave him all the resources that he would need, thanks to being the sole heir of Wayne Enterprises.

    Scooby Doo

Who does not know Scooby Doo? The talking dog which is scared of everything that moves and with his four teenage friends, solves mysteries involving fake ghosts. A Hanna Barbera creation, it was first created as Sunday morning cartoon series. Scooby Doo remains one of the most famous cartoon characters .

    Fred Flintstone

The blast from the past, The Flintstones, the most famous prehistoric family, first made their appearance in the year 1960. Fred is the loving father and husband who provides the series with many of its funny moments. A blue collar worker, who loves his wife, lives next door to his best friend, and has the cutest pet in the form of a dinosaur is one of the funniest classic cartoon characters. Think Yabba dabba doo.

    Dennis the Menace

First published in 1951, Dennis the Menace remains one of the most popular classic cartoon characters ever. Based on the creator, Hank Ketcham's son, the focus of the show are the many escapades of Dennis, a precocious and mischievous boy. The series also often focuses on his relationship with his neighbor, George Wilson.

    Popeye

If your mother always forced you to eat Spinach by giving you a reference from the world of cartoons, then you know Popeye. Created in 1929 by Elzie Crisler Segar, each cartoon revolves around his overcoming his troubles by gaining superhero strength after eating a can of spinach. A list of cartoon characters cannot be complete without Popeye.

    Jerry

You could question the exclusion of Tom from this list, but the fact remains, that according to us, without Jerry, none of the situations that make the series so hilarious would exist. The premise of the series remains the same, a cat and mouse chase. But the stories are amusing, always entertain, and well, Jerry has to be the cutest mouse on the planet.

Of course, in the mid-term elections held on Tuesday the Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives and increased their number in the Senate but falling short of a majority there. Before that change occurs in January the current Democratically controlled Congress will hold a lame duck session. (The FEHBlog likes Daffy Duck who is not lame.) The AMA News explains that

Physicians are slated to get hit with a 25% reduction in Medicare payments over two months, according to the final 2011 physician fee schedule released Nov. 2 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. CMS revised that downward from its original estimate of a 29.5% cut. Pay is still slated to go down 23% on Dec. 1 but would go down 2% -- rather than 6.5% -- on Jan. 1, 2011, assuming Congress takes no action.
The medical community is pushing for the lame duck Congress to pass a 13 month patch to allow for negotiations with the new Congress. That should be really interesting, given the new budget cutting environment on Capitol Hill.

Finally, Computerworld reports that the Center for Democracy and Technology and fourteen other privacy advocacy groups submitted comments to OPM on the October 5, 2010, Federal Register notice announcing a new system of records under the Privacy Act in connection with a FEHBP health claims data warehouse. The CDT's press release explains that

In a letter to OPM Director John Berry, the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) and 15 other organizations asked the agency to release more details on the need for the database and how the data contained in it will be protected and used.
The OPM "should not create this massive database full of detailed individual health records without giving the public a full and fair chance to evaluate the specifics of the program," the letter cautioned.
It also called upon the OPM to delay its proposed Nov. 15 launch date for the database because there was not enough time for independent observers to evaluate the proposal.

one of the most famous cartoon characters of all time dressed up like a skinhead, donning the classic fred perry shirt aswell as the cross tattoo and skinhead written on his forehead....
are this images mocking the thuggish skinhead culture or are they promoting them by filling youths with images of this type of culture?

Some say the the tasmanian devil is probably the only animal more famous as a cartoon that in real life, in fact you probably just know him as TAZ the Looney Cartoon. Well just to tell you the truth he doesn't look anywhere close to the cartoon character but he's still the tasi devil isn't he :D

It's very unlikely to encounter a devil in the wildlife as they are almost extinct, so we headed to a local zoo which kept them in the outdoor just like in there natural habitat. While taking a walk along the zoo path we encountered something out of the ordinary which baffled us more than the devil itself, the chickens .... i mean highlighted chickens, the bonkers from the zoo decided to give them a 70's style highlighter colours on their cotton like feathers. Strange but it definitely took our attention. We finally saw the devil further on which actually he's a little bit cute as well :) Looks like a half bread of a dog and a rat with a sprinkle of cute lotion in it. Than the "Finale" an Emu decided to hop out of the fence and give us a small chance just before it decided to head downhill instead "Phewww" it's probably my fault cause i called here a pigeon ... who nows.

A Japanese animated film centering on one of Russia’s most famous cartoon characters, Cheburashka, has become one of the main highlights of the highly prestigious Tokyo International Anime Fair.

The Japanese feature-length animated cartoon revolves around the adventures of the quirky Russian creature with large funny ears, Cheburashka and his friend, Crocodile Gena.

Created back in 1966, Cheburashka was the brainchild of Russia’s Eduard Uspensky, author of many popular books for children and whose characters were often turned into cartoons.

The beloved Russian character, worshiped by several generations of Russian children, also enjoys popularity in Japan. In 2001, an old, Soviet cartoon about Cheburashka, made back in the 1970s, was screened in Japan. Since then, the jug-eared creature has become a sought-after character in the Land of the Rising Sun. Its smiley face is often featured on T-shirts, pens, mugs and other souvenirs sold in Japanese toy shops.

It is not the first time Japanese animation artists have turned Cheburashka into the lead character of a film. Last year they created an animated cartoon series which was screened on several local TV channels
